3 SPORTSTECH PREDICTIONS FOR 2022 TO IMPACT ALL OF US

Some say the past 2 years have been the most innovative years in human history, starting with the global pandemic forcing us to adapt and find solutions for the new reality, and continuing with the Web 3.0 revolution that has just begun.

Continuing this big momentum, and with regards to all the actions coming up in the sports tech ecosystem this year, I would like to share with you my 3 predictions for the year of 2022.

  1. Augmented Reality will beat Virtual Reality in the long run.

There are growing concerns as to whether virtual reality would harm our society beyond repair. The lack of human touch and connection would further disintegrate a population that already has reservations about metaverse solutions.

AR provides multiple benefits of VR solutions without requiring us to abandon our world completely and has a much better chance to overpower VR in the eyes of a mass audience in the long run.

For the sports tech ecosystem, we predict 2022 will be a BIG year for AR technology.

from in-stadium AR features like pre-game shows, and stadium navigation to AR augmented athlete training sessions that will allow athletes to better measure their performances with a 3D view.

  1. Digital ads will receive unprecedented growth.

In 2021, worldwide ad spend reached a breaking record of $780.59 billion in advertising. It was a ripple effect of the circumstances that arose with the spread of Covid-19 that led to serious business uncertainty and highly competitive markets.

Living in a post-pandemic world, we’re far from immune from the threat caused by the coronavirus to human life and health, and one can only expect a continuing boom in digital ads for some years to come.

For the sports tech ecosystem, we predict this year will have some major breakthroughs in the Media and Sponsorship fields, as we can see many young startups finding innovative solutions for sports brands and federations to keep them ahead of the game in these highly profitable sectors.

  1. Remote work will take over the office environment, and how this is related to fitness.

The hybrid working model is gradually becoming the reality of tomorrow as we continue to strive and explore the best way of operating business in a post-pandemic world.

It is no longer mandatory or even advocated to hold in-person meetings, meaning the work environment as we know it is in the process of getting redefined.

But, what about our remote fitness?

We believe people this year will prefer flexibility also at their fitness routines.

The rise of many home fitness devices has grown rapidly during the pandemic while creating a convenient solution for many people.

While constantly improving these smart devices and creating an in-home social experience, we believe, similar to remote work, fitness is getting redefined.
